DE Minister Pichet Durongkaveroj says a nationwide broadband network will link villages to the digital economy. "Construction of a national broadband network, which is designed to be one of the key drivers in the development of the country's digital infrastructure, will lead to an innovation-driven economy," Mr Pichet said. Having a nationwide broadband network will help bridge the digital divide and promote modern economic development through the e-commerce channel, he said. Mr Pichet said the Thai government allocated a budget for the specific purpose of constructing a broadband network for all villages. It is expected to offer a full range of online marketplaces, logistics channels, packaging and payment systems through the digital network.
